Vermont Primary 2026: Sarah George Holds Off Challenge in Chittenden County
Vermont held its 2026 state primary on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The results cited below are unofficial and come from the Vermont Secretary of State's Office.
Chittenden County State's Attorney
Chittenden County State's Attorney Sarah George won the Democratic primary with 15,931 votes to challenger Bram Kranichfeld's 14,923. No Republican or Progressive candidates filed for the seat, clearing the way for George to serve a third four-year term.
Chittenden County Sheriff
Chittenden County Sheriff Dan Gamelin (D) fended off challenger Kevin Bloom, 15,876 to 12,135.
Windsor County Sheriff
Claude Weyant won the three-way Democratic primary for Windsor County sheriff with 3,666 votes, ahead of Christopher Norton (1,726) and Joshua Lake (1,563). Weyant faces Republican Richard King in November.
Franklin County Sheriff
In Franklin County, Chad Miles won the Republican sheriff primary with 1,057 votes, ahead of Andre Labier (589) and James Lynch (318). Incumbent John Grismore did not seek reelection.
