Kennebunk Town Hall Evacuated After Email Bomb Threat; No Explosives Found
Kennebunk Town Hall in Kennebunk, Maine, was evacuated and closed on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after a bomb threat was received by email at the town assessor’s office (newscentermaine.com, WGME CBS13, Seacoastonline.com, The Maine Wire).
The threat was also received by email at the Kennebunk Fire Department.
Search finds no explosives
K-9 units from the Maine State Police and Maine Capitol Police searched the Town Hall complex. Police said no explosives were found and declared the building safe (WGME, newscentermaine.com).
Investigation continues
The threat remains under investigation. Reports indicate it appeared to originate out-of-state (The Maine Wire, Aug 13, 2026).
